Arklow swoops late to win for Power and Nolan

20/1 shot Arklow Ger swooped late to land the 2m 1f Handicap Chase for his trainer Paul Nolan with Robbie Power aboard. Jigalo (8/1) for Joanna Morgan with Bryan Cooper aboard looked set for victory when he hit the front after the last but he couldn’t repel the late challenge of the winner who stormed up the hill getting up to win by a neck.

The 9yo son of Presenting was recording his third win of 2011 today, having won at Naas in February and Fairyhouse in April.

Winning trainer Paul Nolan said afterwards: “The break neck pace they went definitely helped him as Robbie said he just stayed on past tired horses up the run in.

"He has been a great servant and that was his seventh win today. He has also been unlucky and fell at the last with races won on a few occasions.
