Gordon Lord Byron left big-race pilot Wayne Lordan perfectly satisfied after he enjoyed a post-racing workout at Roscommon in his build-up to the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Sunday.

The Tom Hogan-trained gelding struck Group One gold in the Paris contest in 2012 and found only Moonlight Cloud too good last year.

Lordan said: "All Tom wanted to do was to give him a blow, there were two two-year-olds in front of me and I left them off a bit. When I gave him a squeeze to quicken up he quickened up well and he pricked his ears in the last half-furlong."

The jockey continued: " I was trying not to do too much on him, just get a slight blow into him and he seems well in himself. I don't think I have ever rode him work before. It's different when you are not jumping out of stalls, but he felt well in himself today.

"He's won the Foret before and I'm looking forward to the ride on him."

Ansgar is set to be added to the field for seven-furlong contest at the supplementary stage on Thursday.

Trainer Sabrina Harty wants to aim even higher with the in-form six-year-old, who claimed the Group Two Park Stakes at Doncaster on September 13.

He had previously won the Supreme Stakes at Goodwood, with the prospect of a drying forecast in France having persuaded connections to consider supplementing him for the Group One.

Harty said: "There's rain coming in towards the weekend in Ireland so he won't be going to Tipperary on Sunday (Concorde Stakes), I don't think. Instead of that, we are looking at supplementing him for the Foret as it looks like it's going to be good ground out in France."

Garswood has had the Foret as a long-term objective since finishing third in the race last year.

The Dutch Art colt was most recently seen when landing the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville in August, beating Thawaany by half a length in the hands of Gerald Mosse. Trainer Richard Fahey confirmed the partnership will remain intact for the Foret.

The North Yorkshire handler said: "They (Garswood's owners) were keen for him to keep the ride. He's a good jockey and we'd be happy with that.

"Garswood will do a bit of work (on Tuesday morning) but everything is good with him."
