25/1 shot You Can't Catch Me pulled away in good style in the closing stages to land the concluding amateur maiden at Clonmel this evening. Lachares was sent off the 4/5 for the two-miler and hit the front turning for home. He was claimed with under two furlongs to run by You Can't Catch Me and Magna Cartor however.

That pair soon fought it out with the former getting on top, despite drifting right and slightly hampering his rival, going to the furlong marker.

Kieren Purcell 's charge started to assert inside the final furlong and was well on top near the line to record a three length success.

The winner was last seen pulling up in a beginners chase at Limerick last month. He had previously won three times over hurdles at the track.

"He loves this place and that's his fourth win here. He loves the track and loves the ground,” said Purcell.

"It wasn't a surprise - we were expecting him to run well but thought he might need the run. He's a bit big in himself but maybe he was fitter than we thought

"He'll go back jumping now although if something turns up on the flat we might be tempted by that, but we prefer the national hunt!"
