Dimitar came from last to first to land the spoils in the mile handicap at Dundalk.

Shane Gorey settled his mount in last in the early stages and had to wait for a gap to appear coming to the furlong pole.

Eljowzah and Curl Cat fought it out from the furlong pole but both were trumped in the closing stages by Eddie Lynam's charge.

The 7/2 favourite powered home in the closing stages to get on top and record a length-and-three-quarter success.

The winner was recording his second course and distance success after victory at the track last month.

The race was restricted to riders that have ridden less than 10 winners in the last calendar year and saw Gorey team up again with Lynam.

“I don't know what sort of race it was but he done it well,” said Lynam.

“Shane rode a lot of winners for me going back. It's nice to get the new year off to a good start.”
