Champion Jockey elect Davy Russell, who was stood down for the day following his fall from Alfa Beat in yesterday's Grand National, missed the winning ride on Rising Time (2/1f) in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle at Tramore today.

Five pounds claimer Mikey Doran came in for the winning 'spare', steering the daughter of Old Vic (and indeed the closest living relative to Dawn Run) to an 18 lengths win over Castle Genie Rising Time had the measure of nearest pursuer The Folkes Choice when that rival fell at the final flight.

Winning trainer Paul Nolan was not present but Alan Dobbs, his travelling head lad, said “Rising Time has had a few little problems over the winter but thankfully she is over them now. She'll go for the mares' race at Punchestown next provided she comes out of this ok.”
