Definite Class at 4/1 ran out a convincing seventeen length winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase providing her trainer Dessie Hughes with a double on the card, having earlier scored with Glenbarrow

Ridden by Bryan Cooper the daughter of Definite Article tracked the leaders early on before getting on terms with the front running Banjaxed Girl before the second last.

She brushed that one aside with ease soon going clear and staying on well to win easily. Gerdalia ran well to take second at 16/1 for Sean Aherne and Paddy Mangan while Lisrose at 14/1 was a further two lengths back in third for Declan Queally and treble seeking Davy Condon.

The well fancied aforementioned favourite Banjaxed Girl for Lady Jennifer Fowler finished a disappointing fourth under Robbie Power.

The winner, who is owned by the Three Locks Syndicate from Limerick, was having her sixth run over fences today. She was already placed three times over them with her last effort coming at Thurles in February where she finished third to Carrigeen Lechuga.

This evening victory added to her bumper win and her two hurdle successes.

Winning trainer Dessie Hughes said afterwards: "She was entitled to win her Mares Beginners Chase although I didn’t think she would win that far.

"She is a nice mare and is an Novice now for the season.

"She will be good over the summer and into the autumn."
