Famous Name does it again at Leopardstown

Famous Name won as his odds of 1/6 suggested he would in the concluding Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown under Pat Smullen.

Smullen got to the front on the Dansili six-year-old from under two furlongs out and the now eight times course winner and dual winner of this Group 3 event soon stretched on to beat Across The Rhine by seven lengths.

Winning trainer Dermot Weld said: "Famous Name is a proper horse. I think he's won close to a million Euros in win and place prize-money now – he was second in a French Derby.

"He is entered in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and before that I'll review today's race and see what runs at the Curragh.

"For a six-year-old colt he's a joy to train. He's just so consistent.

"We might look at the Irish Champion Stakes with him. It wasn't his day in that race last year but he still finished on their heels."
