James Fanshawe is considering several comeback options for his Breeders’ Cup heroine Audarya.

The daughter of Wootton Bassett enjoyed a remarkable campaign in 2020 — progressing from a narrow handicap victory on the all-weather at Newcastle to landing Group One glory in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville and in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Keeneland.

Connections have sportingly kept Audarya in training as a five-year-old, with Fanshawe hoping to have his stable star back on the racecourse next month.

However, whether that will be in Britain, Ireland or France has yet to be decided.

“Doing another Breeders’ Cup doesn’t often happen, so that is obviously a pipedream,” Fanshawe told Sky Sports Racing.

“The Breeders’ Cup is on the west coast this year and a completely different track (at Del Mar). The whole build-up will be very different, with a longer trip, so we’ll fiddle our way there.

“Where we’ll start, I’m not sure. There’s three or four options at the end of May — there’s the Prix Messidor and the Prix d’Ispahan in France, you’ve got the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown and the Tattersalls Gold Cup in Ireland.

“They’re all within a week of each other, so that’s when we’re aiming to start.

“She’s in the Middleton Stakes at York, but I think that might come a bit too soon.”
