Benefitthewest chose her moment well to record a first win for almost three years, in the Graun Hill Suite – Perfect For Parties Handicap Hurdle at Tramore today for her new trainer Paul Flynn and jockey Jody McGarvey.

On her sixth start for Flynn the eight year old mare, last successful at Kilbeggan in July 2011, moved to the front at the second last and stayed on well for a two and a quarter lengths win over Whitehead Lad

Flynn later explained “I crashed my lorry a few weeks ago and have been driving around in her owner's (Sean Duke, of Dukes Motors in Roscommon) jeep since so hopefully he won't charge me rent for it now!”

“It's grand to win with her and I'm delighted her owner bought her and sent her to me.”
