Trainer Pat Flynn faces an anxious 24 hours before finding out whether Storm Away will make the cut for the Connacht Hotel Qualified Riders Handicap on the opening evening of the Galway Festival.

As a half-sister to Flynn's 2009 Galway Hurdle winner Bahrain Storm, dual bumper winner Storm Away is certainly bred to excel at Ballybrit and was last seen running an encouraging race in defeat at Limerick, having previously opened her account on the Flat at Wexford.

Flynn said: "She is number two on the ballot and if she gets in, it'll be by the skin of her teeth. She is beautifully handicapped if she does get in, as she'll have bottom weight with Paul Power booked to ride.

"We're hoping for nice ground and I think we'll have it as the weather is going to be good.

"She's a half-sister to my Galway Hurdle winner Bahrain Storm and hopefully she'll have enough experience to handle the hustle and bustle of the race.

"She's as good as we can have her at the moment and a lot depends on the day and what draw she might get."
