Ferryview Place was delivered from behind a wall of horses by Johnny Murtagh to land a gamble in Division 1 of the one mile handicap at Dundalk.

Murtagh switched the Eoin Griffin-trained three-year-old to the outside and he ran on well to win by half a length at odds of 4/1. The winner was backed down at all rates from 7/1.

The win ended a lean spell of 290 days and 67 runners for Kilkenny-based Eoin Griffin who said: “It worked out perfectly for the horse as he wants cover and has a turn of foot.

“I’m very disappointed it has taken this long for him to win. He has to have good ground. I’ve had a very lean spell as I didn’t have winter horses.

“I have 12 horses riding out which is down from 40/45 four to five years ago. Like a lot of other people its about keeping your head above the water.

“We lack a graded horse at the minute which every yard needs. Hopefully one of the younger horses will pick up the baton.

10/3 favourite Lift The Gloom occupied the runners-up berth while Heroine Chic at 9/2 completed the placings.
