Hazapour reversed Curragh form from August 20th with Hunting Horn to put Pat Smullen back level with Colin Keane at the head of the jockey's championship table.

Smullen went for his race on the Aga Khan Shamardal colt from the two pole, and Ballydoyle's Hunting Horn was soon giving chase.

The Dermot Weld-trained winner kept up going well enough in the closing stages to repel his odds-on rival by a length in this Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Galway.

Hazapour finished seventh, whilst Hunting Horn was fourth at headquarters, behind tomorrow's Blenheim Stakes contender, Gobi Desert, on their respective debuts last month.

"Our horse stayed very well at the Curragh when they went very steady and it turned into a three furlong race. It didn't suit our horse at all and today was more of a test and stamina was a big help to him today," reported Smullen.

"It's tough conditions but to be fair he stuck it out well to the line.

"He'll obviously improve from the run and is a nice staying horse."
