J P Head Of The Posse with 3 winners

Head Of The Posse made it three in a row by landing the Grade 3 Barna Waste Ballybrit Novice Steeplechase and in the process he completed a treble for his owner J P McManus (achieved the same feat at Towcester) who had earlier witnessed victories for One Fine Morning (David Casey jockey of Head Of The Posse was also on this one) and L'Ami

Darceys Dancer was pulled out of this feature race owing to the change in ground conditions and this left the way clear for his stable companion Realt Dubh to assume the mantle of favourite. However when Paul Carberry asked this fellow to come up four out the horse put down on him and paid the penalty.

Head Of The Posse then led at the last and despite idling coming up the hill he was always holding too many aces for Son Of Oscar the margin between the pair at the line being a length and three parts. There was twenty seven lengths back to the third placed Salesin

John Kiely, the successful trainer commented: "It was made very easy with the other horse falling (Realt Dubh). It was a pity that he didn't stay up though we're obviously pleased to get the win. He (David Casey) was generally happy with his jumping and we have no plans."
