Jessica Harrington nominated Jenari as the pick of her runners at the two meetings this afternoon when unveiling a mixed team of 60 horses at an owners and press open day in her Moone, Co. Kildare base.
The son of Milan ran a cracker on his debut at Leopardstown when second to Dermot Weld's three-time winner Waaheb, and the four-year-old takes the next step on his career in division one of the bumper at Gowran Park.
“He ran really well in his only start, and and he will head to Punchestown after Gowran. I can't wait to see him over hurdles in the autumn. I hope he will win at Gowran,” said Mrs Harrington. Sarsfield's Ride represents the yard in division two of that bumper, and she commented: “He will head to the Tattersalls Sales bumper after Gowran. He is a lovely horse but still needs to get a little stronger. He has done well lately, jumps well and will be a nice horse next year.” Miss Salinger is her other Gowran runner in the mares maiden hurdle. “I am delighted with her this season. She has really strengthened up from last year.”
The Flat is playing an increasingly important role for Mrs Harrington, and she has two runners at Navan this afternoon including Siren's Song in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Salsabil Stakes.
“I was thrilled with her first run at Leopardstown (2nd to fellow newcomer Mesariya). It was a very rough race, and she was very tough and will have learnt a lot from the experience. She has really settled down in the last few weeks since that first run, and I really like her,” she said. It's Freezing who “got bogged down at the Curragh” last time “wants better ground and has improved from last year”, runs in the mile and a quarter Dunderry Maiden.
