Jumbo makes smooth reappearance

Jumbo Rio justified odds of 4/7 with the minimum of fuss in the Oakbruce Properties Hurdle to add to the earlier gains achieved with Warne for trainer Edward O'Grady and rider Andrew McNamara.

Racing in the colours of Limerick man, Paddy Wilmott, the four-year-old didn't need to be asked for maximum effort to see off Spanish Auriga by a length and a half. The front-running Tharawaat was a further five lengths adrift in third.

O'Grady's immediate reaction was: "Relieved and delighted. Hopefully now he'll run in Auteuil on the 15th of November. He'll go there and take on Rendons Grace again and all those horses. It is a Grade 1, 120,000 Euros to the winner. It's over 3,900 metres (about two miles and a half miles). The last day he got 60,000 for being second over there. He has won over quarter of a million since last November. He got 90,000 for his two placings in France.

"He has done well and is a lovely horse. It is nice to be able to run against four-year-olds for the moment. He'll have to take on the others later but I'll avoid them for as long as I can."
