Seabass and Miley Shah competed at the November meeting at Ballinaboola in 2011 whilst Brindisi Breeze won a divide of the five and six year old geldings maiden at Loughrea over twelve months ago. Winners from the 2012 editions of those County Wexford and Galway meetings, were the headline-makers from last evening's Brightwells Sale at Cheltenham.
T J Nagle's Just A Par, winner of the 5-y-o geldings maiden at the Blazers meeting at Dartfield this year, before going on to recently win a Punchestown maiden hurdle, changed hands for £260,000.
Paul Nicholls was the successful bidder, reportedly seeing off Henry de Bromhead. Nicholls indicated that Just A Par has been bought for Paul Barber and Graham Roach.
Buyer of Festival bumper winner, Cheltenian, at this sale in 2010, Roger Brookhouse was busy for the majority of the session, parting with £750,000 for five lots.
Need To Talk was the most expensive of his buys, costing £230,000. Alan Dobbs sent out the four-year-old son of King's Theatre to impressively score at the point-to-point in Ballinaboola last Sunday.
According to Brookhouse, Need To Talk, related to plenty of winners including Lough Gale, Eton Gale and Sans Cease, will be trained by Philip Hobbs.
Soon after that, Brookhouse beat off the interests of both Anthony Bromley and Aiden Murphy at £120,000 for Champagne West. This youngster, a son of Westerner, was most eye-catching in victory in a Loughanmore point-to-point last Saturday, triumphing by twelve lengths for Eoin Doyle.
Brookhouse also struck for Denis Murphy's Sail By The Sea, a winner at Glenbane at the end of October. This Heron Island gelding, who came on a ton from his debut at Castletown-Geoghegan, went for £85,000.
Tom Taaffe paid £210,000 for bumper winner Gold Bullet, out of the Michael O'Hare yard.
Anthony Bromley was in the thick of the action too and he spent £120,000 on Brinestine, a dual winner on the level for Joe Murphy.
Paul Cashman's Abbey Storm, a winner at Rathcannon and since placed in a Wexford bumper, went to Donald McCain for £90,000. Maybe a bit surprisingly, his conqueror from Bettyville, Killyglass was sold out of Stuart Crawford's Larne yard to Gerry Hogan Bloodstock for £68,000.
Two £95,000 purchases were Pat Doyle's Tipsy Gypsy, a winner at Dromahane last Sunday, who fell to the bid of Tom Malone and Tim Vaughan.
Also at £95,000, Indevan, a winner at the same meeting for Tom Keating, saw Willie Mullins and Harold Kirk invest.
Abigail Lynch kept the flag flying for the fairer sex when making £62,000. Andy Slattery sent out the daughter of Oscar to score at Kinsale late last month. The four-year-old was signed for by G Baker. (EM)
