Kilkishen served up a shock in the bumper as he strode home at 14/1 for Shark Hanlon and Patrick Mullins.

The five-year-old gelding disputed the lead with Duffys All Set as the 3/10 favourite Attribution tracked the pair in third.

As the race unfolded at the elbow Kilkishen was in the lead closely followed by Attrbution. Anna Holty was a couple of lengths away in third with Duffys All Set burned off in a distant fourth.

Kilkishen was in the mood to maintain the gallop and Attribution quickly came under pressure and the whip was drawn on him by Nina Carberry.

Swinging in with a furlong and a half to go and Kilkishen was holding Atrribution by a few lengths and the latter could make no headway. When he reached the winning post the margin that Kilkishen had over the long odds-on favourite was clocked at four lengths.

Anna Holty was a further nine and a half lengths away in third at 20/1.

Jockey Patrick Mullins said: "He's just a galloper. Today and his previous runs it took about four furlongs to pull him up. I decided to ride him very forcefully and it has paid off. He'll make a fine three mile jumper."
