Lavery has the Curragh in mind for Magnetic Magnetic North could head to the Curragh on Friday evening in a bid to gain compensation for missing an intended appearance at Royal Ascot. Trainer Sheila Lavery had been eyeing the Britannia Stakes for her impressive Leopardstown maiden winner, but was forced to rule him out after he suffered a setback. Lavery said: “He should have gone to Royal Ascot, but he got a stone bruise and it took a while to clear up. “He is entered up for Friday at the Curragh in a mile-and-two (furlong) handicap for three-year-olds only. “He is in great form, but if the ground is firm I won’t run him. The ground is just the worry for me at the moment for nearly everything.” Another horse for whom Lavery is waiting on suitable ground is Lady Kaya. The daughter of Dandy Man finished a highly-promising third on her Curragh debut, finishing ahead of two subsequent winners. “She is a very smart filly and she is in good form, but I just don’t want to run her on the ground. I’m just waiting on a nice bit of ground,” said the trainer. “She came out of the race well. The plan with her is to win her maiden and go from there. “She has an entry in the Phoenix Stakes, which I think is warranted.” The Lavery-trained Danz Gift has not been seen since winning successive races on the all-weather at Dundalk in April. The seven-year-old is winless after 13 starts on the grass. Lavery added: “He has just come back into work, and had I known there was going to be such a dry spell I would never have left him off. “He needs good ground and as soon as he is fit he’ll be back out campaigning. “He’ll stay over five furlongs and I don’t really have anything in mind for him, but he’ll stay in handicap company.”
