Laid Back Luke was another to gain a deserved success when landing the Ardfinnan Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel.

Robbie Colgan bounced out in front on the 5/4 favourite and he jumped well at the head of affairs.

Sheila Lavery 's charge was asked for an effort before the second last and kept on well in the closing stages to beat Lake Takapuna by nine lengths.

The Quws gelding had just lost out at Down Royal last time having also been placed at Fairyhouse on his previous start.

“"I'm delighted for Robbie as he rides him out and does all the hard work!” said Lavery.

"He's tricky and is so lazy he is hard to get fit. He has tonnes of ability but likes to dictate his own pace. He'll be kept going as long as the ground isn't 'hard-hard'."
