Gary Phillips rode a well-judged ride from the front on 7/1 shot Phantom Of Plenty to land the mile and two apprentice handicap and give trainer Ger Lyons a double at Leopardstown.

Phillips forged clear turning in and increased the gap two furlongs out. Phantom Of Plenty pulled clear for a nine-length victory.

Ger Lyons praised the ride. He said: “Full credit there has to go to the young lad. He;s not the easiest ride and Gary is very good at judging pace. He rode a good race there from the front.” Tiffilia (8/1) and David Parkes won the race for minor honours, a length and three quarters ahead of King Of Dudes, the 6/4 favourite who finished third under Luke Dempsey.

King Of Dudes came in for consistent support in the betting rinf from an opening show of 2/1 down to 6/4, but he was never a factor at the business end of the race.
