Co Tipperary handler Pat Doyle toasted one of the most significant victories of his training career under rules when Kaiser Black landed the McHale Mayo National at Ballinrobe.

The seven-year-old gelding finished second at Tipperary earlier in the month but took his game to another level with a 15-length defeat of Spider Web in the hands of Jack Kennedy. A Sizing Network finished third, another 17 lengths away, while Concordin was fourth.

Doyle, who is more renowned on the point-to-point circuit, said: “He’s been a great horse for us — we’ve minded him.

“I didn’t think he’d really handle the ground and thought the handicapper was a bit harsh on him for the last day.

“But, as it turns out, it seems the handicapper was right.”

S.W. Flanagan, rider of Net D'Ecosse (FR) trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost its action and pulled up.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Net D'Ecosse (FR), trained by Noel Meade, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have a graze on his right hind fetlock and was slightly lame behind.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sea Light trained by C.Byrnes, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have lost its left fore shoe.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Baily Moon trained by M.F.Morris was found to have lost its right hind shoe.
