Mogol earns step up in class Kauto Grand Mogol will have his sights raised following his hugely impressive hurdling bow at Limerick on Sunday. The six-year-old, who is a half-brother to the great Kauto Star, performed well in a couple of bumpers in the spring after over two years off the track and gave weight and a sound beating to his rivals on his seasonal reappearance. "He doesn't have a bumper pedigree, but when we brought him back in the spring we didn't want to cut his novice hurdling season in half," said trainer Liz Doyle. "We've always rated him quite highly. I wasn't sure whether we would give Willie Mullins' mare (Uranna) 15lb the other day, but he did and he's just a total professional who absolutely loves the game. "Jumping seems to be second nature to him and when he turned for home the other day, he put his ears back and galloped as if to say 'nothing is coming by me'. "We'll probably step him up to a Graded race at Navan next time. There's a race in two weeks' time, the Monksfield Novice Hurdle. That might come a bit soon, but we might give him an entry and see how he is. "Then there is another Graded race back at Navan early next month, but I think that could be very hot. "We'll see where we end up, but hopefully he's an exciting horse."
