O'Connell by the minimum again

Brian O'Connell got Borolee up by the minimum margin at Punchestown yesterday and Dunguib's jockey was again on the right side of a tight finish in the Powerstown Desmene Handicap Hurdle when Le Reveur just held on from Pride Of The Lions

Le Reveur got away from two out quicker than Pride Of The Lions and this was crucial in the outcome. There was three parts of a length back to the third placed Lynott and the fourth placed Yeoman was just a neck away in fourth.

Philip Fenton, saddling his first winner since the ill-fated Hairy Molly at Kilbeggan in August, said: "It usually favours the near-side (Pride Of The Lions) here so I wasn't sure if he'd held on. At long last anyway we're off the cold list.

"This fella is an eight-year-old and he is a long time a maiden over hurdles. He won three races on the flat in France and cost a lot of money at one stage.

"The owner is Patsy O'Brien and he is from Bennettsbridge in Kilkenny. He has Good Time Bob and Shaniv, who we think is nice, with me as well."
