Odonimee is a tremendously tough and game daughter of Idris and following the local success of Penny's Bill half-an-hour earlier there was a possibly even more well-celebrated win when the former landed the Pinnacle Novice Handicap Steeplechase at Wexford. Odonimee is owned by the New Ross-based All But Two Syndicate, ridden by Sean Flanagan who hails from the same hinterland and she is trained in Borris, County Carlow by Lar Butler.

On her first start in handicap company over the larger obstacles, Odonimee was easy-to-back on course (9/2 out to 7/1) but that mattered not a whit to what transpired out on the track. She got the sixth fence 'wrong' but that didn't stop her from assuming command from before two out, on the way to a comfortable two and a half length dismissal of Paddy O Dee

Bred in The Rower, County Kilkenny by Rodney Deacon, Odonimee was following up a Clonmel success and taking her career tally to four prompting Butler to say: "She's done it well. I thought the handicapper was a bit harsh on her (carrying top-weight here with a mark of 121) but maybe he was right.

"Soft ground is the key to her. She'll probably go for a Grade B at Fairyhouse now." (DM & EM)
