Original gets jumping together

Original Option completed his fourth win of the year and his first over fences when taking the Killarney Oaks Hotel Beginners Chase. Derinlaur made a bold bid to give Denis Hogan a quick double but had no answer when tackled by Noel Meade's charge at the second last.

Paul Carberry kept his mount up to his job in the closing stages to record a seven-length victory over the long-time leader.

Three were sent off co-favourites, the eventual winner, Ainama who never threatened in fourth and faller Our Gar

The winner was pulled up on his only previous chase start at Down Royal but had been successful over hurdles either side of that and had also scored over timber last time at Bellewstown.

"I must be some tipster as I was telling everyone he had no chance with the way he jumps," said Meade.

"Your man (Carberry) came down to school him yesterday morning and he would teach a horse more in one session than most would in a week.

"He jumped 15 fences yesterday morning. He was hestitant and getting in tight but after one or two today he was taking them on.

"I thought he would improve from today's run. He'll go to Listowel now for a novice chase."
