The well-backed Oscar Invitation opened the door to Mystic Lass by wandering before the last but it was a measure of how much she had in hand that she pulled out more close home to prevail by two and a half lengths in the Cahir (Mares) Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel.

Unfortunately we had a fatality in this two and a half miler when Allez Gold fell four out bringing down second favourite Mollyanna and the Jonathan Burke-ridden Oscar Invitation ultimately took over entering the straight on her way to victory.

Sean Flanagan, rider of Allez Gold, had to go for x-rays on a wrist injury.

Winning trainer Eoin Griffin said: "It's nice to get and she's owned by a locally based Waterford syndicate. They're all related and it's headed up by a fella that used to work for me, Frank Quinlan. He went selling cars when things picked up recently.

"The ground was okay but she wouldn't want it any quicker. She'd been running well if a little keen. "She has ability but she has a history of leg problems. We went three months without a runner because of the fast ground and they've been running well since we started back."

B.T. O'Connell, rider of Rosygo trained by Denis Leahy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly hampered and he pulled up.
