The Clonmel Racecourse Supporters Club Only #90 Beginners Chase saw R'evelyn Pleasure (10/1) win on his second start over fences for trainer Sean O'Brien and jockey Donagh Meyler.
A course winning hurdler, the Mark McDonogh-owned six-year-old, bred by his trainer, fell on his first venture at this discipline, at Cork on November 18th.
On this occasion favourite Monotomic (11/8) was looking a winner when low and quick two out. He was low again and made a mistake at the last.
From there home Monotomic's effort was weak but R'evelyn Pleasure (supported in the early markets for this event) was strong, and he ended up triumphing by three lengths.
R'evelyn Pleasure overcame the inconvenience of not getting a clear run and stumbling slightly before two out.
The gamble of the race Bitsandpieces (10/1 into 4/1) was doing his best work at the finish, three and three parts of a length back in third.
"It was brilliant to get it and he came back to his hurdles form when he won here. I thought on his hurdles rating he was over-priced," said O'Brien.
"At Cork it was just a simple novicey mistake and he fell but he was good today when he wanted him. There's a novice for him at Limerick over Christmas but I don't want to be bottoming him on real deep ground so we'll see.
"It's also my first winner since my mother Eileen passed away a few months ago. She was a big part of the team, so today was a welcome boost and we appreciate it."
At the request of the Stewards, John J Fitzpatrick, rider of Chateauneuf Du Pap (GB), trained by Miss Ellmarie Holden, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was outpaced at the top of the hill and stayed on in the straight.
