The Gavin Cromwell trained Prospectus made a winning Irish and hurdles debut at Fairyhouse today, when causing a 16/1 upset to win the opening Racing On New Years Day 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle under jockey Jonathan Moore.

The ex-Hughie Morrison trained and previous Ffos Las winner was produced to lead, past favourite Dakote Moirette, approaching the final flight and in the end stayed on strongly for a 12 lengths win over that rival.

Afterwards Grade 1 winning trainer Cromwell stated “I like him but the way he won surprised me. He was professional enough and went to the line well and we will have to make an entry for him at Leopardstown now.

“He’ll get an entry in the Grade 2 and if it comes up soft, he’ll get through it.”

Psospectus was bought for 20,000gns last October and now races for the nine member McAlpine Syndicate which includes racing journalists Dave Keena and Denis Kirwan along with Brendan Swan, is a former one arm golf champion.

Winning jockey Moore was replacing declared jockey Keith Donoghue who failed to make the weight on the eventual winner.
