Purple finally gained a valuable winning bracket in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, although the result was only confirmed following a stewards enquiry.

Joseph O’Brien sent the evens favourite to the front around two furlongs out but she soon swished her tail after coming under pressure, and edged right inside the final furlong causing some interference to third-placed Euphrasia

The well-bred daughter of Galileo kept on well enough to beat Starstruck (7/1) by half a length, with a further two lengths back to the third.

Not surprisingly the placings were confirmed after the enquiry, and the rider commented “She was tough and deserved that win.”

O'Brien, who weighed out 2lb overweight and weighed in 3lb over, was given a one day suspension for careless riding.
