Curragh regular Eton Rifles' fine end to the season continued as he won the Prix Contessina at Fontainebleau on Thursday.

The seven year old is a confirmed mudlark and relished the testing conditions in France to win back-to-back renewals of the six furlong contest under William Carson.

Stuart Williams' charge was sent off a well-backed favourite to follow up on his victory at Doncaster earlier in the month and his supporters had few anxious moments.

The Pivotal gelding had two lengths to spare over his nearest rival at the line; Personified chased him home with Lalloupet Fred - second 12 months ago - back in third.

It was an eighth career success for Eton Rifles and a fourth at Listed level.
