Shanrod team double up at Dundalk

Shanrod may be one to note in next Wednesday's Fred Winter Hurdle at Cheltenham if the form shown by stable companions Banna Boirche and Indian Wind is anything to go by as that pair completed a 57 and a half to one double for Castlewellan, Co. Down-owner Paul Rooney and trainer Michael Halford at Dundalk tonight.

Shane Foley was on Banna Boirche but it was the returning champion apprentice Gary Carroll (was in action in Italy and England lately) who had the mount on Indian Wind.

This German-bred son of Monsun, equipped with cheek-pieces, chased the leaders, got to the front around two furlongs out and he kept on well to beat Kenton Street by one and three parts of a length.

The now seven-year-old won twice in his three-year-old days in Germany and this was the lightly-raced gelding's first success since. He was welcomed by favourite-backers as he was the first of them to score on the night.
