TG4 Sweepstakes run at Naas

The TG4 Dushlan Na Marcach Sweepstakes, a TG4 documentary which has been following a group of aspiring jockeys, was run at Naas this evening and the resulting documentary is set to be aired in Spring 2012.

In the style of old football reports, if you don't want to know the score, look away now!

The race was won by Audrey Ryan on 10/1 chance Ocean Bright for trainer Dermot McLoughlin.

Ryan sent the five year old gelding into a clear lead from the start and while she never saw another rival, kept her mount going to record a storming 15 length win over 5/4 favourite Bacher Boy

Twenty aspiring jockeys had aimed to win a place in the eight runner race with the participants being put through training regimes by Tucker Geraghty and showjumper Suzanne Macken.

Those who successfully completed 'Boot Camp' were then placed with trainers Tony Martin, Gordon Elliott, Conor O'Dwyer and James Nash, before sitting for their Qualified Riders Licence tests with the Turf Club in late October.
