TG4 will screen a preview of the Punchestown Irish National Hunt Racing Festival on Saturday night, 20st April at 9.10pm with a repeat showing on Sunday evening, 21st April at 6pm. The preview features visits to the stables of Dessie Hughes, Willie Mullins and Tony Martin. The magazine style preview will also have a feature by Marietta Doran on the latest fashion trends ahead of the festival.

“The Punchestown Festival is one of the highlights of the Irish sporting and social calendar and TG4 are delighted to provide racing fans with a look ahead to one of the biggest racing occasions of the year. This follows on from our very successful Cheltenham festival preview that once again attracted over 100,000 viewers” said Rónán O’Coisdealbha, Head of Sport, TG4.

Denis Kirwan presents the magazine style preview and Donn McClean and Leon Blanche from Boylesports provide the analysis/betting view. The preview programme is produced by Touchline Media, who regularly produce racing programmes for Irish television stations.

Immediately after the Punchestown preview programme on Saturday night at 9.40pm, TG4 will show the Bankos Tales produced documentary ‘Punchestown – Seeing Out The Distance’ – the story of the festival past and present. Revolving around the 2011 festival, the show also dips into the archives to look back at the history of the festival and features some of its greatest moments.
