The Neilans in Kilcolgan, County Galway have derived considerable pleasure from the subsequent exploits of their former charge, Tofino Bay, and his success in Grade 2 Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase will have no doubt been greeted warmly by his former handler.

The 'bookies' in Youghal may not be so cheery as the victory for the Bishop Of Cashel gelding in the three miler, brought up a treble (after Morning Assembly for Pat Fahy and Solwhit for Charles Byrnes) in as many races for a son of the Cork seaside town, champion jockey, Davy Russell.

Tofino Bay has been a lovely acquisition for Gigginstown House Stud and the Troytown Chase hero made all here and bravely fought off odds-on favourite, Aupcharlie (finished in front of him at Leopardstown last time) from the back of the last to prevail by half a length.

Winning trainer Dessie Hughes said: "That was good. The ground is the key. Not too many horses love that but he does.

"The P J Moriarty (at Leopardstown) is where he'll go now.

"That's two miles five and he needs it to keep raining as that trip would be short enough.

"This was a better option that the Thyestes (at Gowran on Thursday). He got his own way in a race like this and it was nice prize."

Aupcharlie is 25/1 (from 14s) for the RSA Chase and 14/1 (from 8s) for the Jewson with Boylesports.
