Preview thurles 29th Nov

The Glen Chase provides the highlight of an all-chase card at Thurles, providing the meeting passes an early inspection.

With the likes of former Arkle winner Forpadydeplasterer and another Cheltenham Festival victor in Berties Dream, it looks sure to be a classy contest.

The most interesting contender could be Oscar Time, though, as he was second in the 2011 Grand National and returns after a year off following just one run over timber last term.

The meeting gets under way at 12.30 with the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase, where Galianna will bid to transfer her solid hurdling form to the bigger obstacles.

Pat Flynn's mare followed up a Listowel win with a good second at Cork, but will have to improve again should the Grade Three hurdle winner Mae's Choice hit that level of form again.

Willie Mullins had more illustrious horses to choose from at the entries stage for the Killinan Beginners Chase other than Marito, but the French import showed promise at Punchestown in April so shouldn't be underestimated.

Plan A is the biggest threat as he was a classy type over hurdles and has the benefit of chasing experience, while Golanbrook has been in good form over timber so shouldn't be ruled out either.

Mullins has an exciting recruit to the chasing ranks in the www.thurlesraces.ie Beginners Chase with the Grade One-placed hurdler Vesper Bell.

Second to Marasonnien in a top-level novice hurdle at the Punchestown Festival last term, connections will be hoping the six-year-old can hit even greater heights in this discipline.

Canaly looks the pick of those with chasing experience and may be on hand to capitalise if Vesper Bell fluffs his lines.

Saoirse Dun bids to follow up his Naas win in the first division of the Ken Whelan Hangs Up His Boots Handicap Chase, while the second edition could be between Clashnabrook and Lascalahall.
