Toll takes Townend's tally to three

Jockey Paul Townend recorded a treble at Fairyhouse today, completing the hat-trick in the 3m5f Porterstown Handicap Chase on Droim Toll

Droim Toll was disputing the lead at the final fence, with Rocco’s Hall, but was left well clear when that nearest rival blundered Andrew McNamara out of the saddle.

Afterwards winning trainer Donie Hassett stated “Droim Toll wasn’t right at Limerick but I don’t know why. However he stays all day and goes on that ground. He had a wind operation last season and I was reasonably confident coming here today.”

Jockey Andrew McNamara, who was sore following his fall, missed his final booked ride of the day.
