Willie Mullins can find nothing untoward with Tornado Flyer after his disappointing run at Naas last weekend.

One of the leading bumper performers last season, he finished third behind stablemate Relegate at Cheltenham before winning his Grade One at Punchestown.

Having triumphed at Punchestown on his hurdling debut, his clash with Battleoverdoyen in the Grade One Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle was billed as one of the best of the season to date, but he was pulled up by Ruby Walsh.

“I don’t know what happened to Tornado Flyer. We had a few horses run disappointingly and Come To Me (seventh in the same race) gave a few coughs following the race,” said Mullins.

“However, nothing has shown up with Tornado Flyer and I was going to work him on Thursday but left him alone to David Casey.

“He will probably have a run shortly as he didn’t have a race at Naas. I think he may have backed off the other horses early in the race and become detached, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
