Turn Burns off rivals in bumper

Burn And Turn got Jessica Harrington off the mark for the week at Punchestown when taking the Irish Sun-sponsored bumper in impressive fashion under the trainer's daughter Kate.

Out of luck when Roberto Goldback unseated Robert Power with a narrow lead at the last in yesterday's Guinness Gold Cup, the local trainer had also saddled a string of placed horses before striking gold here.

The Flemensfirth mare (13/2) made smooth headway on the rail to lead off the home bend, and drew clear to beat Lord Gale (14/1) by nine lengths. Black Benny (25/1) was another two lengths back in third, while 15/8 favourite Vesper Bell appeared to be travelling well approaching the straight but could find no extra finishing fourth.

Harrington said: "Finally a change of luck! She did it very easily and was cantering on the better ground. I couldn't believe how easily she was going. The further she went the further she was going away. She will head over hurdles next season, and she's a brilliant jumper."
