Four races in at Leopardstown and four favourites have obliged as Unanimous landed the 4/7 odds in the mile maiden for three-year-olds and gave Aidan and Joseph O’Brien a double on the night.

The son of Dansili had proved consistent without getting his head in front as he was second at Fairyhouse on Sunday (collared late by Encrypted Message), third at Naas and second at Gowran Park on his last three outings.

This time, however, he went on under two furlongs out from Wild China and despite tiring near the finish held Massini’s Trap by a length and a quarter at the line.

James Nash’s runner-up – on debut - had come out of the pack in pursuit and stayed on stoutly to close on the winner at odds of 25/1 while Gumption took third at 10/1 for Timothy Doyle in the 11-runner field.

“He’s been running consistently well and he was good enough to win that. He was entitled to as he is genuine and when they have a big heart that’s what counts,” Joseph O’Brien said.

O'Brien now has 40 winners in the jockeys title race and leads the standings by three from Pat Smullen and Wayne Lordan.
