Cappacurry Zak landed a bit touch in the www.tramore-racecourse.com Handicap Hurdle scoring under Ryan Treacy for Leslie Young.

Having won his maiden hurdle over the course and distance in December he disappointed on his next two outings at Limerick and Thurles respectively.

Available at 10/1 in a place this morning (before Eshtiaal came out) the son of Arakan opened on-course at just 5/1 before going off a 7/2 chance.

Having chased the leaders throughout he was ridden before two out.

He came with his challenge on the outside approaching the last and he was nearly carried out there as Mick The Boyo attempted to run out.

He came through to lead at the last and kept on well under pressure on the run-in to hold off the challenge of Point The Toes (14/1) by half a length.

Mick The Boyo was sent off the 2/1 favourite and he finished back in third under Kevin Sexton for James Grace.

Leslie Young said afterwards: "He is everything what you wouldn't expect to be a course specialist here. The hill probably helps him.

"He will probably have one or two more runs before going out and then he'll go chasing."

Part owner Tom Treacy (with Sean O'Connell) also bred the gelding and he made the long journey down from Ballinrobe this morning.
