The 11yo Doctor Woodfield trained by Cecil Ross and ridden by Barry Cash ran out a convincing winner of the Friends of Liam Hogan Handicap Chase at the odds of 12/1.

The son of Dr Massini has been running well of late and finished second over the course at Christmas behind The Bosses Nephew.

He since put in two more decent efforts finishing fifth behind Profit Margin at Thurles in January and fourth behind Code Of The West at Down Royal last month.

Barry Cash sent his mount to the front before the second last and he stayed on well from there to score by three and a quarter lengths from the 5/2 favourite The Big Boyo back in second (backed from 6/1 this morning), who was having his first run for Charles Byrnes having been previously with PJ Colville.

D’s Trix for Andrew McNamara was a further half a length back in third under Sean McDermott at the odds of 14/1 while Wise Oscar completed the placings a further length and a half back in fourth at 20/1 under Mark Bolger.
