Zabana held the late lunge of Hurricane Ridge to claim the two-mile conditions hurdle at Gowran Park.

Robbie Colgan tracked front-runner Shabra Emperor throughout before moving on from that rival turning for home.

2/1 joint favourite Hurricane Ridge tried to throw down a challenge at the second last but was playing second fiddle as Colgan asked the eventual winner to assert before the final flight.

A slightly untidy jump at the last by Andrew Lynch's charge gave his rival a chance again on the run-in but the eventual winner was always holding on as he posted a three-parts-of-a-length victory.

The 3/1 winner was following up on his maiden hurdle success at Sligo last month.

“His jumping is nearly right. He just made one mistake today,” said Lynch.

“He's a nice horse, has plenty of boot and got his ground today.” Bensoon was the well-backed into 2/1 joint favourite, from 5/2 (3/1 in morning), but whipped around as the tapes went up and took no part.
