< Sherchanceit gained compensation for a narrow defeat at Ballinrobe on her previous outing when making every yard of the running in the Dawn Milk Run Handicap Hurdle at Killarney.
Andrew McNamara sent the mare (6-1) straight to the head of affairs and she responded to her jockey's urgings in the straight to score by two and a half lengths from Total Excitement
Winning trainer and owner Mary O'Connor said: "She doesn't settle too well and Andrew heard there might not be much pace on so he asked if he could make it.
"She's difficult if you hold her up, so if you leave her off in front she relaxes.
"We hope to go to Galway now for a handicap hurdle that comes up before the Plate."< Ballyadam Brook (5-4) and Paul Townend also put up a fine front-running performance in the John O'Connell Memorial Novice Hurdle.
Winning trainer Terence O'Brien said: "We're delighted with that.
"He was lame for three weeks after winning in Sligo and I thought we were in trouble, but he came right.
"Paul said he gave a blow two out there but you'd expect that.
"He'll go for the two-and-a-half-mile novice at Galway on the Thursday if he is OK now."
In the same race, Robert Dunne was handed a five-day suspension after being found guilty of insufficient effort on his mount Redera
The Killarney Grand Live Music Venue Handicap Hurdle went to the Charles Byrnes-trained Jack Cool (5-1), who made the most of a costly last-flight blunder from red-hot favourite De Senectute
"He had Flat form on softish ground which was always going to be a help. He was probably a lucky winner but they all count," said Byrnes.
"We'd have fancied our lad strongly only for the favourite being in the race.
"He'll go to Galway now for some race in the second half of the week, as the owner is coming over from England."
