< Tarana claimed the feature Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick for the John Oxx yard in a thrilling finish with El Salvador < Inis Meain who had Tarana in second when winning at the Curragh a fortnight ago, attempted to make all the running in the Listed contest and was still in front a furlong out, but he was collared by the two principals.

Tarana (10-3) took the advantage in the hands of Declan McDonogh, but El Salvador made remorseless progress all the way to the line and there was nothing in it as they flashed past the post, with the filly getting the verdict by a nose.

Dermot Weld looks to have a useful three-year-old on his hands in Afternoon Sunlight (13-8 favourite), who displayed plenty of ability in taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden in the hands of Pat Smullen.

A Sea The Stars half-sister to Casual Conquest, who was placed in both the English and Irish Derby for the Weld yard, Afternoon Sunlight shared pacesetting duties with market rival Achnaha before stretching clear from the furlong pole to win by five lengths.

Weld and Smullen doubled up when Hellenistic (9-2) pounced very late to grab the Follow Limerick Racecourse On Twitter Handicap in the shadow of the post, beating Punch Bag by a short head.

Ger Lyons' 9-2 shot Third Dimension got off the mark with an all-the-way victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden, Colin Keane having plenty up his sleeve as he resisted the efforts of favourite Table Rock by three lengths.

Connections of Jim Bolger's Dynamite Dixie have had to be patient as the five-year-old has had few runs, but the 13-8 favourite took the Great Limerick Run Maiden, getting the better of a fight with Madam Mo to score by a length and a half under Kevin Manning.< Lady Giselle (8-1) caught Queen Of Alba close home to win the Patrickswell Handicap under Chris Hayes, while Silver Chief (8-1) cleared away from the furlong pole in the hands of Connor King to take the Follow Limerick Racecourse On Facebook Handicap.
