Preview navan 17th Dec

The stars of the future take centre stage at Navan in the Grade 2 Navan Novice Hurdle, where Cracking Smart and Next Destination lock horns.

Cracking Smart impressed in landing a Listed event at Cork last month and there could be more to come from Gordon Elliott's charge.

Next Destination looks equally promising having accounted for some useful sorts on his hurdling bow at Naas. The duo are prominent in the ante-post markets for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and will be looking to justify those quotes.

Elliott fields another exciting youngster in the shape of Blow By Blow, lining up in the John Lynch Carpets Maiden Hurdle.

Jack Kennedy's mount, the Punchestown Champion 'bumper' winner in 2016, was nabbed on the line by an outsider at Fairyhouse latest (As You Were back in fourth) but can be expected to gain compensation.

The Grade B Tara Handicap Hurdle looks competitive and Diamond Cauchois gives Gordon Elliott another big shout at one of his local tracks.

Davy Russell's mount was third on his return at Naas last month and may step up further though She's A Star has been going well lately and merits respect.

The action commences at 12.15 with the Irish Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle and Noel Meade's Cask Mate should prove popular having earned a silver medal on his debut at Cork last month.

A somewhat trappy Marcie's Pub Rated Novice Chase may be best left to Without Limites, a winner on his chasing debut at Wexford in October, while Gordon Elliott's Gigginstown-owned duo Felix Desjy and Rapid Escape appear to have the Listed 'Future Champions' INH Flat Race between them.

Arthur Moore's Ontopoftheworld has not fired so far this season but acts well at this venue and looks interesting in the Navanadventuresports.ie Handicap Chase.
