Diamond King attempts to put his unfortunate Cheltenham experience behind him when he lines up for the Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase at Thurles on Saturday.

Gordon Elliott's charge went to the Festival as a leading contender for the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate but made a hash of the sixth fence and then was hampered by a faller, which effectively ended his race.

He drops back in distance for this Listed affair and takes on the Willie Mullins-trained Great Field, who has been very impressive in winning his two starts over fences so far.

Great Field's stable companion Open Eagle returns from the sidelines in the Enjoy White Gypsy At Finns Borrisoleigh Hurdle.

The eight-year-old hasn't been sighted since finishing in mid-division in last year's Albert Bartlett, and has to concede weight to all of his six opponents.

They include smart chaser Sadler's Risk, who has been off since taking fourth behind Valseur Lido in a Grade One at Down Royal in November.

Victory Mill was a lacklustre last of four in the race 12 months ago and makes his first appearance since in the Devil's Bit Beginners Chase.

Chief rivals Art Of Payroll and Dicosimo have chasing experience to call upon, although the latter hit the deck most recently.

The action gets under way at 2.10 with the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle, in which Giant Spirit's seconds behind Let's Dance and Bon Papa probably set the standard.

Tulpar has been in excellent form this year, but has another 5lb rise to contend with in the Jimmy Neville Memorial Handicap Chase.

His trainer Pat Neville has a good chance in the Clonoulty Handicap Hurdle courtesy of Kemboy, who returns from a break, while Robbie McNamara's Dasmyhoss was third behind Debuchet on his introduction and tries to build on that in the Littleton (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
