Raydara in season during Guineas

Raydara was found to be in season following a disappointing effort in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday.

Mick Halford's filly had been off the track since beating Lucida in the Debutante Stakes last August, but her County Kildare trainer does not believe a lack of race fitness was the reason for her lacklustre comeback.

A trip to Royal Ascot could still be a possibility for the Aga Khan-owned youngster.

"It transpired she was in season. She was a bit flat in the last furlong and now we know why," said Halford.

"Her fitness was pretty good, but the run should bring her forward and we'll see where she goes next.

"She has an entry in the Coronation Stakes in Ascot and she's also in the Pretty Polly, so we'll probably make a decision in the next week or so."

While Raydara may have failed to run up to expectations, Halford enjoyed a decent weekend at the Curragh, with Hasanour claiming a valuable handicap and other horses performing well in defeat.

Among them was the two-year-old Tonkinese, who went into many notebooks after finishing an encouraging third on his racecourse debut in the Godolphin blue.

Halford said: " We were very happy with him. It looked a decent maiden on paper and the race itself was run at a decent pace. I'd say it will produce plenty of winners.

"Being by Authorized, our horse will appreciate stepping up in trip, but he was ready to start off so we decided to give it a go over six (furlongs).

"He'll probably step up to seven the next day.

"It was nice to win with Hasanour. He ran in the Lincoln and didn't handle the heavy ground, so we said we'd wait with him and it's great it came off.

"He's in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot and is rated 95 now.

"Whether that will be enough to get him in or not, we'll have to wait and see."
