Go Forty Go s late thrust won a thrilling finish to the two mile maiden hurdle which got Tramore's card under way.
The 6/1 shot soon led after jumping the first hurdle and dictated matters from the front with Andrew Lynch in the plate.
However, he wasn't fluent at the second last and that enabled Realdealholyfield who tracked him throughout, to get upsides on his outer. The latter was soon ridden by Ian McCarthy, but it was Go Forty Go who came to the last still with the initiative.
He made a jumping mistake there which allowed Jesmond Lodge to overhaul him on the short run-in. Go Forty Go showed his resolution though by coming back at Jesmond Lodge close home and indeed he got up to win by a neck.
The runner-up was a 25/1 outsider while Emmy Lou rewarded each way punters by taking third at 8/1.
Winning trainer Henry de Bromhead said: "I'm delighted with that. It was his first run for us and he had been working nicely. Around here you need experience and he showed there that he lacked a bit, but it is nice that he went and won it.
"He jumped really well. Andrew said it was a bit slippy so he was a little bit cautious. He has done nice work at home and I think he is a nice horse. Hopefully he will jump a fence, he loose schools really well.
"He has got a lot to learn but fair play to him for going around Tramore green. It is not the easiest place to go and make all. I thought we'd blown it at the last. He will go the novice route before fences.
"He is a six-year-old so I'd say he'll go over fences fairly soon. He will keep going for the summer. He is owned by Peter Brophy. The Brophy's are big breeders from Kilkenny and they also had Voler La Vedette."
This was Go Forty Go's first appearance on a racecourse having fallen in a point-to-point in April 2014 when with Aidan Fitzgerald.
The Stewards interviewed Mr P. Power, rider of Sparkalark concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b), in that he used the whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone and having considered his record, suspended him for four race days.
