Ground conditions should be just perfect at Sandown this afternoon for the Coral-Eclipse following a little rain last night.

Five go to post for the ten-furlong Grade 1 which sees a fascinating clash of the generations as Investec Derby winner Golden Horn takes on last year's French Derby and Irish Champion Stakes hero The Grey Gatsby.

Clerk of the Course Andrew Cooper said on Channel 4's Morning Line this morning, "It's been the driest June in my time here at Sandown, and we've had only 11mm of rain in the whole of June.

"We had just under 3mm in a sharp shower last night about 1am but other places nearby have had quite a bit more. No watering will take place this morning.

"Last night after racing we did the inside strip of the home straight and some selective stuff down the back straight. Even with the 3mm of rain I'm glad we did that as that is still where the predominately good to firm areas are.

"This morning I would call both tracks good to firm, good in places. The five furlong course is predominately good to firm. There is a reasonable proportion of good ground on the round course."
