Aidan O'Brien reaffirmed his belief Air Force Blue is a "very special" horse as the Ballydoyle trainer prepares last season's champion European two-year-old for a Classic campaign.

The son of War Front went into winter quarters as hot favourite at around evens for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on April 30 after completing a hat-trick of Group One victories in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket in October.

"Air Force Blue is obviously the Qipco Guineas favourite. We think he's a very special horse. He was a very good two-year-old," O'Brien said.

"He's a big, rangy horse. He's long and obviously if he was a human being he would be big, tall and he would be athletic.

"He's a friendly horse, relaxed and calm which we think is very important in an athlete.

"He has a well-balanced mind and if you have an athlete competing at the top level, you have to pamper them and give them all the things they want, so you're really trying to do everything you can to keep them happy."
